April 17, 2013....
Mom and Dad moved to the meadows on February 29, 2012.... A big move with mom not really wanting to go and doing nothing to help. Mostly what she did was to be persistent about what she wanted from the house to the apartment.... Dad didn't really want to go, but is was ok as long as mom was there.
Then at the with the end of the school year over and retirement here,,, the cleaning of the house began.... What a mess!! Everyone had to wear masks at first because of all the dust made it hard for breathing. The roll off dumpster in the front yard was filled to over flowing with all the throwaways.
If it had not been for the "iron people" who hauled away massive amounts of stuff, one dumpster would not have been enough. They even hauled off the trailer... Woohoo!!!
After the big clean out, a contractor was hired to tear down the outside pantry, replace toilets, reptile bathrooms and laundry, and do a little sheet rock work and painting.
That done, it was time to list it... All went ok, however, the day before closing, termite damage was found. House was taken off market..and termite damage repaired.
Then relished....this time the sale went through, to a nice young family with 3 small children.
In the meat time, daddy had a major set back.. He landed in the hospital and for the 3 weeks he was there and in rehab in Fayetteville, he was never alone. That meant some very woen out people. He went back to the meadows the day after his 92nd birthday...
All was status quo until March when he quit doing transfers and landed in the hospital again.. This time on to the Bradford house for behab and now long term... Where he will stay..
Not an easy choice for anyone, but one that had to be done.... The good news is that the week he was transitioned to long term, the house sold--check in hand....perfect timing:)
Since Dad is in long term nursing care, mom had to move to a one bedroom apartment.... There was
lots of help for that!!!
Anyway, mom and dad seem to be adjusting to their new living arrangements. Not perfect, but best for the situation they are in.
Dad seems to be settling in at the Bradford house and they do seem to be taking good care of him as well as the other residents there.
